Portland, OR (October 26, 2018) — Freeland Spirits, one of Portland’s newest craft distilleries, will celebrate the release of its second spirit – and its first craft bourbon — on Sat., Nov. 3 with a launch party at the Freeland Tasting Room, 2671 NW Vaughn St. starting at 11 a.m.
Freeland Spirits CEO and owner Jill Kuehler and Master Distiller Molly Troupe will be on hand to greet customers and share the story behind their inaugural bourbon. The first 50 customers who purchase a bottle will receive a VIP tour and barrel tasting with Jill and Molly.
Freeland Spirits Bourbon pays homage to the South and to Meemaw Freeland, the namesake of Freeland Spirits (Jill Kuehler’s grandmother). Soft caramel, vanilla and spice dance into the whiskey from charred American oak barrels, and a final five-month rest in Elk Cove Winery Pinot Noir barrels adds the flavor of the Pacific Northwest. Freeland Spirits Bourbon was intended to sip neat or over ice, but is undeniably delicious in cocktails as well.
“We are thrilled to expand our line with this beautiful Bourbon,” said Jill Kuehler. “When we started Freeland Spirits last year, we were excited about creating a full range of really exquisite, hand-crafted spirits, and when we tapped our friends at Elk Cove Winery for Pinot Noir barrels, we knew Freeland Spirits Bourbon would be unlike any other Bourbon on the market. We can’t wait for people to taste it!”
Freeland Spirits Bourbon is a blend of 3-year and 12-year aged Bourbons, is 92 proof and has a suggested retail price of $48.95. The initial run of 800 bottles will be available exclusively at the Freeland Spirits Tasting Room in Portland until mid-November, when it will be available at Oregon retailers, and soon after that, on- and off-premise accounts in California and Washington.
