On Monday, June 3, Nostrana restaurant will celebrate its third year of the quintessential Italian cocktail by bringing together an invite-only crowd of Portland’s greatest bartending and culinary talents.

On Easter Sunday, March 31, Raven & Rose will debut a true comfort classic: the Sunday Roast. Inspired by large gatherings and family dinners in their own homes – as well as the warmth that comes when the staff shares a meal together – Raven & Rose owner Lisa Mygrant and chef David Padberg have developed weekly menus, served family-style.

On March 13, 2013 Portland diners and wine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to travel through time. Metrovino – known for its unique and extensive selection of rare wines by the glass – will host a one-time-only dinner featuring the cellared wines of The Eyrie Vineyards from the 1980s and dishes inspired from that decade’s star chefs.

On January 12th The Pearl District will have a choice for farm-fresh food – a local choice. Located at 830 NW Everett Street, Local Choice Produce Market honors the age-old tradition of farm to fork.

In the mountain towns of Northern Italy, winter brings more than frost on the hillsides and a fire in the hearth. Two weeks after the first full moon of the new year, farmers and friends come together for the Maialata. An age-old Italian celebration of the pig – “maiale” is Italian for pork – the feast is steeped in peasant traditions in accordance with folklore and biodynamic practices. All day the community would work together to butcher and prepare the local pigs, all night they would feast on the bounty of their labor.

On Sunday, January 27th, Pearl District wine destination Metrovino will host an epic battle between two classic contenders: red vs. white. Montinore’s dueling vintners Ben Thomas and Stephen Webber will put forth their best pairings for each of five tasting courses specially designed by chef Dustin See. For $45 guests will determine the ultimate matches and, in the process, learn more about the art and science of pairing wine with food.

Fishpeople, a new Oregon seafood products brand, has launched four shelf-stable gourmet entrees in Puget Sound area grocery markets effective today, including Whole Foods and six PCC Natural Markets. Fishpeople seafood products are also available in Oregon and soon to be available in Idaho and Montana.

Cheryl’s on 12th is a locally owned marketplace, café and catering company offering a wide selection of gourmet foods both to-go, and for dining in. Feast on local ingredients this September with Appetizing Oregon – a delicious month-long collaboration among the Downtown Marketing Initiative, Travel Portland and Feast Portland. Throughout the month, more than 35 Portland restaurants around the city will offer an appetizer or small plate featuring locally sourced ingredients for only $10. The promotion highlights top Portland restaurants during the same month as Feast Portland – the city’s one-of-a-kind food and drink festival.

Fall is coming to the Pacific Northwest and that means the return of fresh hop beers and the Oregon Brewer’s Guild (OBG) fresh hop Fests. Four Fresh Hop Fests – similar to traditional outdoor beer festivals – are scheduled across the state in September and October as part of the Oregon Bounty culinary tourism program. Each Fresh Hop Fest will feature original limited release fresh hop beers produced by OBG members. Fresh hop beers are only produced during the small window of Oregon’s hop harvest, which typically takes place from mid-August to mid-September. These once-a-year beers are ready for consumption in September and October and are packed with unique flavors that simply aren’t available the rest of the year.

Roll out the red carpet! Portland gets glamorous as it celebrates Fashion’s Night Out once again for one fabulous night. On Thursday, September 6th, Downtown Portland becomes a fashion capital, with more than 25 downtown retailers highlighting the season’s hottest trends, a paparazzi-worthy runway in Director Park and free parking at SmartPark. It’ll be a night of in-store events, fashion shows and free goodies as shoppers come out to enjoy Portland’s 3rd annual celebration of Fashion’s Night Out.

On August 15th Metrovino will showcase the Sherries of Emilio Lustau with an intimate multi-course dinner. This dinner, presented to entertain as well as educate, will highlight the delicious diversity of Sherry. Sherry has long been known as a wine-insider’s wine – its expression of salty minerals and savory flavors has made it a favorite of sommeliers and chefs alike. The Metrovino staff is excited to work with one of the world’s finest Sherry houses on this event.
